she quit her job to save the world

more on today's Thought Liters

Daniela Osio, CEO of Kloopify, was destined for entrepreneurship. A first-generation American, she pursued the Dream through starting a company to address one of the world’s biggest, growing problems: the impact of supply chain on the planet.

Today on Thought Liters, Daniela shares the story behind it all. Video below:

Here’s why I think this interview stands out:

  • Relentless Pursuit through Odds: Daniela’s father immigrated from Venezuela to chase the American Dream. He, in turn, drove her to start a company. Daniela herself made her way in the corporate world through breaking through the “old boys club” of big industry in West Virginia as a young Latina. She kept going even when that club shut the door on her. Hell, she’s still evolving Kloopify today (see her LinkedIn post from yesterday on this), and is open about the roller coaster therein. This is more than just a simple overcoming of any individual odds — it’s an force unwilling to stop. Anyone can learn from her spirit.

  • Real Education Beyond Buzzwords: Kloopify plays in the intersection of procurement, supply chain, and sustainability — some of the buzziest buzzwords about. And yet, Daniela nimbly educates us on each, providing statistics and real-world stories to help us navigate through the noise of the industry. So you’ll learn something real, if nothing else.

  • It Started Right Here: Most of this audience is still Pittsburgh-based. Let’s be honest, a lot of innovative ideas and tech get plucked from our city and flung to the coasts. Daniela hatched this idea right here in Pittsburgh, and is a shining example of what can happen when you grow right here, too.

If you agree with the above, and enjoy this episode: if you can go like the video on YouTube, that would be deeply helpful. It’s stupid how heavily engagement like that can weigh on how broadly the platform shares the story, but it’s the reality.

And: if you know anyone who would like stories like this, especially in the Pittsburgh — please feel free to forward this around.

If you’re looking to catch up on what’s been going on around here, I’d suggest the Q1 2025 investor letter or our next most recent episode, this genius actually reinvented the wheel (true story) .

As always, thanks for following along. I’m glad you’re here in the early days.

Adam

PS this episode was not sponsored, even though the entire flight lineup came from Penn Brewing. If anyone has connections into that industry, a warm intro or two to pitch this series would be very helpful.

PPS anyone with a keen eye will notice a few brews in the video which seem out of place for April, like Oktoberfest, or Pumpkin Roll Ale. This is the part where I hang my head and admit that this was filmed on 10/1/2024, aka more than 6 months ago. Daniela has been awfully patient. And: all future episodes were filmed in 2025 and much less delayed, ha.

As a closing tribute, this was the last Thought Liters that got made before my dad passed unexpectedly (see The Real S*** ). I pour this final column inch out for him.
